Texas A&M’s 2027 class holds top-ranked SEC commits at five positions

Entering his third season at the helm, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has plenty to be proud of after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, while seeing a record 10 players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft further proved that he is quickly becoming one of the top developers in the country.

On the recruiting trail, Elko and his staff are close to securing the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, which features a nation-high six five-star commits, and after landing blue-chip four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, the Aggies are close to wrapping up the cycle, made up of 26 total commitments.

From top to bottom, Elko has addressed every position, especially along the offensive line, as five-star OT Mark Matthews and five-star IOL Kennedy Brown look like A&M’s future starting tackles, while four-star OLs Kaeden Scott and DaMarrion Johnson are equally intriguing, bringing plenty of versatility for veteran OL coach Adam Cushing to work with.

On Monday, Rivals released its top-ranked recruits at every position who have committed to SEC schools, with Texas A&M leading the way with five commitments at offensive tackle (five-star Mark Matthews), Edge (five-star Zyron Forstall), defensive line (four-star Myels Smith), linebacker (five-star Kaden Henderson) and five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey.

Not only is this impressive on paper, but all five prospects don’t just possess NFL talent, but fit Texas A&M’s culture, with the potential to become leaders on and off the field once they integrate into the program.
