Clemson can’t be stopped, land huge commitment from 4-star edge rusher

Clemson football’s run on the recruiting trail kept going this weekend with another major addition to the 2027 class.

Four-star edge rusher Desmond Malpress from Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville announced his commitment to the Tigers after a big official visit weekend in Clemson. He chose Clemson over several other programs, including South Carolina, Florida State, Syracuse, and Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound defender has seen his recruitment take off over the last few months. Clemson extended an offer back in February, and the relationship built quickly from there. After getting him on campus for the Elite Retreat, the Tigers stayed in a strong position and closed things out following his official visit.

Malpress is viewed as one of the top prospects in Florida in the 2027 cycle. Rivals ranks him No. 134 nationally, No. 12 among edge rushers, and No. 14 in the state. He becomes Clemson’s 16th commitment in the 2027 class and the second edge rusher in the group, joining four-star Santana Harvey.
