Max Holloway ranks Conor McGregor last in greatest UFC featherweights

LAS VEGAS – Max Holloway disagrees with Conor McGregor calling himself the greatest featherweight ever.

McGregor took umbrage with his name not being included in the featherweight GOAT conversation. “The Notorious” knocked out Chad Mendes to claim the interim title, then knocked out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds to unify the belt. However, he was later stripped of his belt due to inactivity.

Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC), who will look to avenge his 2013 loss to McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 329 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (Paramount+), reacted to McGregor’s comments.

“When people talk about this kind of stuff or stats or history, you want the fans and (media) to talk about it, not us,” Holloway said during Wednesday’s UFC 329 pre-fight news conference. “He needs to start picking a bone with you guys, not me. It’s not my fault.”

There have been five undisputed UFC featherweight champions since the division was introduced in 2010 – including Holloway. Holloway ranked the champions, but didn’t include himself in the list.

“I think Aldo,” Holloway said of the greatest featherweight. “Aldo is my favorite, but I can see the case with (Alexander Volkanovski), for sure. I also see through the media’s eyes why, and I’m not going to write myself in there. If it’s four, it would have to be: Aldo, Volk, maybe you give a little bit more to Ilia (Topuria) because of what he did and the guys he fought. Conor just won it one time then boom, disappeared, became a double champ.”
