Colorado football coach Deion Sanders made a rare public comment about his son Shiloβs ongoing legal problems and even found some humor in it recently more than 10 years after it all started.
Sanders joked about it with his other sons, Shedeur and Deion Jr., telling them that if Shilo ever had a child, the baby likely would be served with court documents immediately upon birth.

βShilo have a baby, they gonna serve the babyβ¦ βYou have a court date,ββ Deion Sanders said in a video posted June 29 on the YouTube channel of his eldest son, Deion Jr.
Shilo Sanders, 26, filed for bankruptcy in 2023 with more than $11 million in debt. Almost all of that debt is owed to one man, John Darjean, a former security guard at his school in Dallas. Β Darjean sued Shilo Sanders in June 2016, accusing him of assaulting him and causing him permanent injuries when Darjean tried to confiscate Shiloβs phone at school in 2015, when Shilo was 15 years old.
The case didnβt go to trial until 2022, but when it did, Shilo didnβt show up for it, leading to a $11.89 million default judgment against him, all owed to Darjean.
Sanders is trying to get rid of that debt in bankruptcy court, but Darjean is fighting that attempt, with another trial scheduled for Aug. 31.

Shilo claimed he acted in self-defense, but thatβs not the only active case against him. He also has been sued by a law firm that says Shilo owes it $170,000 for work it did for him on those cases, including interest.
Additionally, the court-appointed trustee in Shilo’s bankruptcy case filed a complaint against Shilo Sanders last year, accusing him of violating bankruptcy law by making unauthorized transfers of approximately $250,000. That case is pending, too.
βHey, they got to stop this man,β Deion Sanders said on the video at his family’s estate in Texas. βYou canβt be in court 15 years. Itβs not possible.β
Sanders then asked, βHow we ainβt been to court yet?β

Sanders made the comments in a larger conversation about which of his sons would be next to have a child after his oldest daughter, Deiondra, gave birth to Sandersβ first grandchild, Snow, in August 2024.
He noted children are βexpensive.β
βItβs a lot of money if something go wrong,β Sanders said.
Sanders previously said his son Shilo was being sued for something he didnβt do and told a USA TODAY Sports reporter in 2024 to do his βhomeworkβ on Shiloβs legal situation.
Shilo Sanders finished his college football career at Colorado in 2024 and has been pursuing other interests such as brand influencing after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year. He is the middle son of Deion Sanders, younger than Deion Jr. and older than Shedeur Sanders, the 24-year-old quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.
