Dustin Poirier is still dealing with potential legal ramifications from his arrest, but financial loss has already occurred.
According to Poirier, major sponsor Bud Light immediately terminated its business relationship after his June 21 arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland had previously indicated Poirier lost a big sponsor in the wake of the incident, but Poirier himself publicly confirmed for the first time Tuesday which company it was.

“They terminated my contract immediately,” Poirier told The Ariel Helwani Show. “… It’s all good, man. I don’t need that f*cking poison in my life. … It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars. But also, if I’m representing something (and) advertising something that I’m not going to be taking part in and promoting stuff, it is what it is.”
Poirier, 37, has since revealed a recurring battle with alcohol, noting that it has flared up again since his competitive fighting career concluded in July 2025. Poirier has said he’s sought help since his arrest and has apologized for the incident, during which police body camera footage caught him berating flight attendants and challenging the responding officer to a fight.
“There are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly,” Poirier said. “I’m not one. If you can drink responsibly, have fun. Drink a Bud Light. Drink a whatever-the-hell-you-want. Be responsible. Have a good time. I’m not that person.”
