The latest version of EA Sports’ college football video game franchise will be released soon, and Penn State fans will be looking to dive deep into the dynasty mode and lead the Nittany Lions to countless championships. With the release of EA Sports College Football ’27 approaching, the video game publisher has been releasing various rankings used in the game to generate enthusiasm and excitement for this year’s edition of its beloved college football simulator. So, after a disappointing 2025 season and a significant amount of staff and roster turnover, where does Penn State land in this year’s video game team rankings?
Penn State will have an overall team rating of 83 in this year’s game. For the sake of comparison, EA Sports lumps Penn State in the same level as Nebraska, Oklahoma State, SMU, Virginia, and Washington (all of whom have identical overall ratings). Penn State’s offensive rating checks in at 86, while the defense is rated at 81. Overall, Penn State ranks 26th in the game based on the overall team ratings.
The top-three overall teams in this year’s game all hail from the Big Ten. Oregon is the top-rated team in the game with an overall rating of 91. Ohio State and Indiana are tied for the second-highest overall rating with a 90.

Penn State does have one of the top home-field advantages in this year’s video game. Penn State’s Beaver Stadium ranks third overall in the game’s toughest places to play rankings.
EA Sports College Football 27 is scheduled to release on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC. The game will not be available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
