The recruitment of the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver and Louisiana’s No. 1 overall high school football player appears to be shifting toward the Tigers. LSU and Lane Kiffin have done an impressive job of closing the gap between themselves and Texas since arriving in Baton Rouge in December.
Royal committed to Texas the day before Lane Kiffin was announced as LSU’s next head coach. Since then, this staff has done everything possible to prove to Easton Royal that he is not only a priority for the program and this recruiting class, but also a cornerstone piece in bringing LSU back to where it belongs.

Since taking his official visit earlier this summer, the buzz surrounding LSU and Royal has done nothing but grow. Now, Steve Wiltfong of Rivals has logged a major prediction for Royal to flip his commitment from Texas to LSU.
This would be a substantial commitment for Lane Kiffin and the Tigers. It would symbolize to the rest of the college football world that “the best in the Boot stay in the Boot.” It would also show that Lane Kiffin is prioritizing building a wall around the elite prospects in the state of Louisiana and keeping homegrown talent HOME.
However, Royal is not the only five-star prospect the Tigers are still pursuing. Their sights remain firmly set on the nation’s No. 1 overall player, Jalen Brewster, and the smoke surrounding him and LSU is just as thick as it is with Easton Royal.
