Ex-Wisconsin basketball star AJ Storr announces 5th school in 5 years

by

AJ Storr has announced his college commitment – for the fifth and presumably final time.

In taking full advantage of the transfer portal, Storr, who spent one season with the Wisconsin basketball team three seasons ago, revealed the fifth school he will play for during a career that will span five years.

Yes, that’s five different programs in five different years.

For his final school, Storr will play for UNLV during the 2026-2027 season, he announced on his Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

“Committed,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

A judge granted the soon-to-be 23-year-old an injunction that is allowing him an extra year of eligibility.

Storr comes to UNLV after playing at Ole Miss last season. Before that it was Kansas. And before that it was Wisconsin. And before that it was St. John’s.

His college career experience follows his high school journey when he played for four schools/academies in Illinois, Nevada, Arizona and Florida.

One of those stops in high school came in Las Vegas, meaning his final college basketball destination is a bit of a homecoming – or as much of one that can be for someone who doesn’t appear to be too attached to any one location.

AJ Storr at Wisconsin

After beginning his college career at St. John’s, Storr joined the Wisconsin program as a sophomore for the 2023-24 school year.

Storr started all 36 games for Wisconsin and led the team with 16.8 points. Storr’s 605 points were over 200 more than Steven Crowl, who was second on the team. Storr’s 28.8 minutes were third on the team.

He earned second-team all-Big Ten honors.

After a run to the Big Ten Tournament title game, the Badgers’ season ended in disappointment in the NCAA Tournament days later when Storr and Wisconsin lost as a No. 5 seed in the first round to No. 12 James Madison.

AJ Storr college career

Storr declared for the NBA Draft after his lone season at Wisconsin but he maintained his college eligibility. And he eventually transferred to Kansas. But his stay in Lawrence, Kansas, was short-lived and unproductive, averaging just 6.1 points per game and starting only four games in 15.7 minutes, all career lows.

He was then off to Ole Miss where he had a bounce-back season in a new conference and in a different part of the country, averaging a team-high 15.5 points in 26.2 minutes across 35 games, including 15 starts.

Storr started his college career in the Big East at St. John’s in New York where he averaged 8.8 points in 33 games with 17 starts.
