The Indiana Fever picked up a big win Wednesday night with Caitlin Clark out injured.

And despite the back ailment of their star guard, the Fever have gotten rid of a different backcourt player on Thursday.
They have waived Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, according to Chloe Peterson.
So far, out of the Fever’s five games, Walker-Kimbrough had appeared in just two. She was essentially out of the rotation.
Her release clears a roster spot.
Fans are hoping that the team gets bigger with that open roster spot. If there’s a need for depth, it’s probably in the paint, potentially a center.
That is, of course, as long as Clark is healthy. If Clark turns out to miss more time, Indiana will want to be smart about how it handles its depth chart at the guard position.

For now, though, they’ve seen enough of Walker-Kimbrough to let her go.
Walker-Kimbrough was originally a first-round pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft out of Maryland, chosen by the Washington Mystics. She made the All-Rookie team, and she won a ring in her third season in the league with Washington.
She has since suited up for Pheonix, Connecticut, Atlanta and now Indiana.
In 2024, Walker-Kimbrough still averaged 22.1 minutes per game, but her playing time dropped to 8.6 minutes per game last season. It appears the WNBA might be passing the 31-year old guard by.
On waivers, she could be claimed by another team, but it’s more likely Walker-Kimbrough reaches free agency. She may have to wait until injuries elsewhere create a need for her experience.
