The Connecticut Sun will try to snap a two-game losing streak as they host the Portland Fire for an early game this morning.

Portland enters as a 1.5-point favorite, and I’m taking it to get the road win in my Fire vs. Sun predictions below.
Read on to see why I like the Fire as I share my free WNBA picks for Tuesday, July 14.
Fire vs Sun prediction
Fire vs Sun best bet: Fire -1.5 (-115)
The Portland Fire have covered the spread in each of their last four games.
They’ll have to do barely more than win outright to keep up that streak against the Connecticut Sun, who are dead last in point differential (-7.1), scoring (79.3 points per game), and effective field goal percentage (46.8%).
The lack of offense will make it hard to keep up with Portland, which has averaged 95.2 points over its last five games.

The Fire won’t have trouble containing a tepid Connecticut offense, and I’m taking them to win, giving up to three points.

COVERS INTEL:
The Fire are third in the WNBA in 3-point rate at 36.5%, while the Sun allow opponents to shoot 35.9% from beyond the arc, the third-highest percentage in the league.
Fire vs Sun same-game parlay
I’m pairing a Fire win with two player props to make an SGP for this morning’s game.
Carla Leite has done an excellent job running the Portland offense this year, with the 22-year-old putting up 5.8 assists per game on the season. She’s coming off a 10-assist performance against the Dream on Saturday, and I like her to hit her Over in a game where the Fire should run rampant against the Sun.

In addition, I’m taking Connecticut center Brittney Griner to hit her scoring Over at 13.5 points. That’s right at her season average, but she was coming off a 29-point game against the Lynx last Monday before sitting out the rest of the week with a quad injury.
Portland allows 40.4 PPG in the paint, and Griner will find success near the basket in what should be a high-scoring game.
Fire vs Sun SGP
-
Carla Leite Over 5.5 assists
-
Brittney Griner Over 13.5 points
Fire vs Sun player prop pick
Bridget Carleton Over 2.5 made threes (+105)
Bridget Carleton is putting up 13.5 PPG, doing most of her damage from the three-point line. That’s where all her points have come in her last two games, each of which saw her hit 3+ shots from beyond the arc.

Carleton now has Over 2.5 makes from deep in three of her last four games, and has attempted at least seven shots from beyond the arc in each of her last five games.
I love Carleton to hit the Over on her 3-pointer prop against a Sun team that allows opponents to fire away from deep.
