A spokesperson for Jeffery released a statement to TMZ calling the allegations “unfounded” and that it was a “misunderstanding.”
“The underlying incident was a minor freeway fender bender, and he provided his information at the scene,” wrote Denise White. “These are unfounded allegations only, and Alshon has not been convicted of any offense. He will address this matter through the legal process, and he remains confident that the facts will demonstrate this was a misunderstanding and nothing more.”
San Diego County records has an entry from Feb. 23 regarding Jeffery, but no specific details.
Under California law, insurance fraud is a felony and can bring with it a sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a fine.

He spent five seasons with the franchise, which included two 1,000-yard receiving seasons and a Pro Bowl appearance.
