WNBA coach Cheryl Reeve is confident she can win games in the NBA.
Reeve says years ago women weren’t involved in men’s sports in any position, but now that’s changed.
“We can be generals in the military. We can be candidates for President; we can be CEOs. The only place that we’re not leading is in men’s sports.” Reeve said. “And so, to that end, that the opportunities that were being given, there’s going to be a day it’s going to happen.”

With more women taking jobs across men’s sports, Reeve says if she was offered an NBA coaching job, she’d “absolutely consider” taking the role because it’s her “obligation.” The Minnesota Lynx coach doubled down when asked if she could win in the league.
“Absolutely! I believe I understand what it takes to win,” Reeve said.
“Coaching is coaching,” she added. “I think every coach needs the right personnel. Not to say you have to give me all the Hall of Famers, but you have to have people that fit what you like to do, what your identity is.”
Reeve has been with the Minnesota Lynx since 2010. During her tenure, she’s won four titles with the organization (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) and four Coach of the Year awards. Reeve was also the coach of the Team USA women’s basketball roster that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Minnesota coach also holds the record (423 and counting) for most wins in WNBA history. She has 371 regular-season wins and 52 playoff wins.
“I think the general concept of women in leadership roles in men’s sports, there’s a lot of us that could be very successful,” she said.
