FSU Seminoles Earn 2027 Verbal From Backstroker Grayson Brewster

NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has added to its growing Class of 2031, having recently received a verbal commitment from backstroker Grayson Brewster of Waxhaw, North Carolina. Brewster is a Junior National qualifier.

She will join Thea BergströmLeah Chin, Aidyn Reese in Tallahassee in Fall 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Florida State University to continue my academic and athletic career! I first want to give my thanks to God and his guidance, my parents, sisters, family and friends for always being supportive and being there for me through this process. I want to thank Coach Sean and Coach Dave at MSA and a huge thank you to Coach Neal and all coaching staff at FSU for giving me this opportunity to be a Seminole… GO NOLES”

Brewster does her club swimming with Mecklenburg Swim Association and most recently placed fifth in the 200 back at Cary Speedo Sectionals last month. She raced both the 100 and 200 back at Juniors East in December as well as the 50m/100m/200m back at Junior Nationals last summer. Brewster was the 200m back runner-up at North Carolina LCM Seniors in July 2025.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.18
  • 100 back – 54.74
  • 200 back – 1:56.70
  • 100 fly – 57.47

Currently a junior at Weddington High School, Brewster took second in the 100 back an sixth in the 100 fly at the 2026 North Carolina 7A State Championships. She placed 16th in the 100 back at the 4A state meet during her sophomore year.

Florida State placed 10th at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Brewster’s top 200 back time would’ve ranked second on the Seminoles’ lineup last season while her 100 back would’ve been third.
