The Florida State Seminoles are looking to shore up their defensive line with a late addition through the transfer portal, but they have some competetion. FSU is battling the Florida Gators for Decarrick Woods, and a new contender has reportedly entered the race.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Woods will visit the Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday. That will be the final visit he takes, as Nakos is also reporting that he is expected to make his commitment on Wednesday.

FSU hosted him on his first visit, with him visiting Tallahassee on Thursday and Friday. While he described the visit as “great,” he still made his way to Gainesville on Sunday for a visit.

Woods is originally from Bossier City, Louisiana, and was a member of the 2021 recruiting class. He started his career as an unranked prospect at Hinds Community College before transferring to Texas State ahead of the 2025 season. He played in 11 games last year, recording 16 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a quarterback hurry in 177 snaps.

He was considered a three-star prospect when he signed with Texas State, with the 247Sports composite ranking him as the No. 89 player overall and No. 19 defensive lineman in their JUCO rankings. He has not received a ranking this offseason. He spent the prior two years at Hinds Community College, making 66 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in 18 total games. He will have one season of eligibility at his next school after the NCAA recently granted him an extra season.
