The Indiana Fever lost 88-75 to the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night. As has become the norm after every Fever game, the discourse on the game has been less about the basketball that was being played and instead focused on one incident concerning Fever star Caitlin Clark.

Clark let a game official hear it after feeling a rough foul on her was missed, with cameras even catching Clark getting in the official’s face and shouting. After the game, Clark herself did not mince words when it came to the officiating crew.

“I got kneed right in the quad. That hurts. The ref can’t miss that,” she said. “Then I had to play with a contusion in my leg the rest of the game. It was ridiculous. You can’t miss calls like that.”

“You can’t knee me in the leg and knock me over,” she added.

On Thursday, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy weighed in and wasn’t shy in his criticisms of the WNBA writ large and its treatment of Clark.

“Are we just gonna keep letting players ASSAULT Caitlin?” Portnoy asked in a post on X. “I mean when is enough enough? This is borderline manslaughter in some states! Cathy will not be happy till shes crippled and outta the league! Have fun flying commercial again!”
