The Miami Heat are showing interest in bringing back Duncan Robinson as they continue reshaping their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, according to Evan Sidery.
Robinson is expected to become available after the Detroit Pistons acquired another shooting option in Isaiah Joe, making his current contract situation more complicated.
The move would mark a return to Miami for Robinson, who spent the first seven seasons of his NBA career with the franchise before joining Detroit. The 32-year-old wing remains one of the league’s most established movement shooters and provides a skill set that fits the Heat’s new roster construction.
Robinson averaged 12.2 points per game for the Pistons during the 2025-26 season while shooting 45.6% from the field and 41.0% from three-point range. He started all 77 games he played, averaging 27.4 minutes per night and connecting on 2.9 three-pointers per game on seven attempts.
His shooting profile is exactly what Miami is searching for after acquiring Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat sent Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round selection to land the two-time MVP.
Antetokounmpo averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in an injury-shortened 2025-26 season, while Adebayo produced 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Miami’s frontcourt now features elite interior talent, increasing the importance of perimeter spacing.
Robinson has already shown he can thrive in Miami’s system. During the 2019-20 season, he averaged 13.5 points while shooting 44.6% from three on 8.3 attempts per game and helped the Heat reach the NBA Finals. Across eight NBA seasons, he has averaged 11.5 points while making 39.9% of his three-point attempts.
