How Maryland’s Rip Current Sports Caught the Attention of iHeart Media
Maryland-based Rip Current Sports and its founder, Jose-Luis Gallagher, were recently featured on iHeart Media’s Maryland Business Spotlight. Gallagher’s interview was also highlighted by Reach for the Wall, a nonprofit swimming news platform that serves the DMV community through coverage of age-group, high school, club, masters, and summer league swimming.
In the interview, Gallagher discusses the exciting origins of Dual Boards, the coaching experience that inspired the concept, and the impressive growth of a Maryland-born product that is now reaching swimmers and programs far beyond its local roots.
The Origins of Rip Current Sports and Dual Boards
Gallagher, a longtime coach and swim instructor, developed the product concept after working with an adult learn-to-swim student and searching for a better way to improve balance and body position in the water.
Since its launch, the team at Rip Current Sports has continued to expand their reach. Dual Boards are steadily making their way into competitive swim clubs, coaching programs, and advanced training environments beyond the learn-to-swim space.
