Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever, with just a few days until training camp, have built their roster for the 2026 WNBA season. With just three players under contract to begin the offseason, the Fever had plenty of work to do. And they started by re-signing some of their top players from the 2025 season, including Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham.
Indiana also brought in several players in free agency, including forwards Myisha Hines-Allen and Monique Billings. It also added several guards to its training camp roster, including Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Ty Harris, Kayana Taylor and Megan McConnell. But with those additions came some losses, with Natasha Howard and Aerial Powers among them. And the Fever also have not brought back a guard who became key during their injury-plagued 2025 season.

Odyssey Sims, after a college career with the Baylor Bears, joined the Tulsa Shock (now the Dallas Wings) in 2014, spending three seasons with the franchise. Since 2017, she has bounced around the WNBA, including stints with the Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, Atlanta Dream and Connecticut Sun. But amid all the injuries Indiana faced last season, Sims was signed to a hardship contract in August before earning a spot on the official roster.
Sims played a major role in the playoffs with the likes of Cunningham and Caitlin Clark out. The guard appeared in every postseason game for the Fever, averaging 14.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 29.4 minutes per game. Sims helped Indiana pull off one of the most surprising runs of the playoffs, finishing just one win shy of a WNBA Finals appearance.

Yet, with training camp around the corner, Sims, now a free agent, has still not found a roster spot. And many WNBA fans are wondering why the Fever have not elected to give her another chance, especially after last season, taking to social media to share their thoughts.
“Man kinda bummer about Odyssey Sims and Ari McDonald moving on from the @IndianaFever damn they were good,” one fan said.
“Not offering Odyssey Sims the 1st training camp invite after what she did last season is criminal,” added another.

“They couldn’t sign Odyssey Sims?” asked a third.
“I wouldve signed Odyssey Sims or Aari McDonald before drafting ANY rookie guards in the draft … shoulda went ALL BIGS @IndianaFever,” wrote a fourth.
“Indiana should have signed Odyssey Sims over SWK. Like the (expletive) are y’all thinking?” commented a fifth.
“Curious why Aari Mcdonald or Odyssey Sims wasn’t re-signed by the Fever. Both played well,” added a sixth.
The Fever will open the 2026 season on May 9, facing Paige Bueckers, No. 1 pick Azzi Fudd and the Wings.
