Indiana men’s basketball is set to take on North Carolina in exhibition play on Sunday, October 18, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

It’ll be the first time the two programs have shared a court since a 77-65 win in November 2022 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The Hoosiers own a 10-6 all-time record against the Tar Heels. This game, being an exhibition, won’t count against that all-time record.

Hoosier fans are largely in approval of the game’s scheduling, per the results of a Reacts survey we ran:

Darian DeVries is entering his second season as Indiana’s head coach while former Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone is entering his first at UNC. Several blue blood programs have made coaching transitions in recent years with Indiana, UNC and Kentucky all having hired new coaches since 2024.

Men’s college basketball’s traditional powers are searching for their first national title since Kansas’ win in 2022. Indiana is (rather well known to be) looking to snap a several decades-long drought while UNC has gone nine years without winning it all.

The Hoosiers are currently +6500 and the Tar Heels are +5500 to win the 2027 national championship, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
