Jayson Tatum’s unforgettable performance against the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals remains the highest-rated Game 7 showing in NBA history, according to Basketball Reference’s Game Score metric.

Tatum tops the all-time list after erupting for 51 points, 13 rebounds and five assists while leading the Boston Celtics to victory.

His combination of scoring volume, efficiency and overall impact placed the performance ahead of several legendary Game 7 displays from some of the greatest players the league has ever seen.

Ranking second is Charles Barkley’s dominant outing for the Phoenix Suns against the Seattle SuperSonics in 1993, when he recorded 44 points and 24 rebounds.

Kevin Johnson’s 46-point, 10-assist masterpiece against the Houston Rockets in 1995 follows in third place.

LeBron James’ famous 45-point performance against the Indiana Pacers in 2018 sits fourth, while Stephen Curry rounds out the top five after scoring 50 points against the Sacramento Kings in 2023, the most points ever scored in a Game 7.

The list also includes iconic performances from Tim Duncan, John Stockton, Draymond Green, Dominique Wilkins and Larry Bird, highlighting the level of excellence required to deliver under the pressure of a winner-take-all contest.

Despite featuring numerous Hall of Famers and NBA legends, Tatum’s historic night against Philadelphia remains the benchmark for Game 7 greatness according to Basketball Reference’s statistical model.
