Just days after making her debut with the Los Angeles Sparks, Kate Martin officially opened her scoring account with the team on Sunday.
The former Iowa star joined the Sparks a week ago after being a surprise cut by the Golden State Valkyries. It’s her third team in three seasons after being with the Las Vegas Aces as a rookie. She’s looking to find a permanent home in the WNBA, potentially in Los Angeles.

She helped out her cause on Sunday night when she scored her first points for the Sparks. It was a signature Martin bucket as she splashed in a corner three.
Martin played five minutes in the first half on Sunday, scoring those three points on her only shot attempt. With Los Angeles struggling with guard depth, Martin will have a chance to prove she can be a long-term piece on the West Coast.
The Sparks will be in action next on Tuesday night, when they take on the Phoenix Mercury at 9 p.m. The game can be seen on Amazon Prime Video.
