LeBron James made it clear that, when discussing the greatest players in NBA history, he places himself at the top of the list.
Speaking about all-time rankings, James said he believes every legendary player would choose themselves first, citing several Hall of Famers as examples.
“I’m not taking nobody over me. There’s no question,” James said. “But I think Mike will say the same thing. Rest his soul, Kobe will say the same thing. Magic will say the same thing. Bird will say the same thing. Shaq could say the same thing. The late great Wilt. Kareem.”
James argued that elite players reach that level because of supreme confidence in their own abilities and accomplishments.
“I don’t think none of us are going to take somebody else,” he continued.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer also suggested that teams evaluating the greatest players ever would have a difficult decision to make if all of them were available in the same draft.
“If there’s a general manager and he’s eyeballing all of us on a baseline, with the No. 1 pick, it’s gonna be hard not to take me, champ,” James said.
