There are times when doing this job that I get things sent to me in an attempt to publicize it for Ohio State fans, but most of it isn’t worth a quick sideways glance and a move on to the work of the day. However, on very rare occasions, there’s something that grabs my attention, and that’s what happened recently.
Steven E. Wilson is the lyricist and producer of Steven E and the Chagrin Valley Rockers, and he wrote a new song titled “Beloved Ohio, You’re My Home,” and I have to say, it’s a banger. I don’t often open these types of messages up, but something told me to listen, and it’s got a bluesy, southern rock sound that had my toe tapping and head bobbing. Even more, it was centered around all things Ohio, including the Indians (Guardians), geography, and of course, YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes. There’s even a line in there to “forget about the Maize and Blue.” Long story short: I loved it, and I think you will too.

Wilson says that one of his dreams is to hear this song played at an OSU football game, and maybe even an Ohio State/Michigan game, and I have to say, I can hear over 100,000 belting out “forget about the Maize and Blue” on a cold November day. Let’s try to make it happen.
Here is the song. I don’t get anything for this, just thought it was one whale of a tune worth sharing. Wilson also shared the lyrics for your reading pleasure as well.
Well done, Wilson, and nice work, Steven E and the Chagrin Valley Rockers. I’d love for you to have a dream realized and hear this blaring inside of the ‘Shoe on the banks of the Olentangy.
