Sutherland (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is in search of his first UFC win. After a four-fight winning streak led to his opportunity, Sutherland lost his first two appearances against Valter Walker and Brando Pericic.

Tuivasa (14-9 MMA, 8-9 UFC) enters on a dreadful six-fight losing skid, in which he was stopped four times. Tuivasa’s last victory came in February 2022 against Derrick Lewis.

Despite having a slew of lighter-weight action fights to choose from, Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby saw fit to litter what’s quietly the most important stretch of the card outside of the main event with big guy slopfests (as Joe Silva is probably somewhere shedding a tear over what has become of his once-bulletproof card formats). But I digress.

In the promotion’s defense, Tai Tuivasa is the obvious fan favorite they’re both trying to feature and service with this soft offer, as far as matchmaking goes.
Don’t get me wrong: Louie Sutherland is a heavy-handed slugger who has takedowns in his back pocket, but the Brit is barely a month shy of a knockout loss to Brando Pericic and will be having to fly halfway across the world just to make the fight.
It’s hard to be confident in Tuivasa given his undeniably depressing recent run of things, but I think that the Aussie gets back on track with a vintage knockout win in front of the home crowd in Round 1.
