The Orlando Magic are said to hold Dusty May in high regard, according to Marc Stein.
“League sources say that the Magic are admirers of Michigan’s Dusty May and would have a level of interest if he were indeed available.
“It must be noted that the expectation at this point in the college game is that May will stay with the Wolverines after they beat UConn for the national championship. Does May, however, indeed have NBA aspirations?”
May gained national attention while leading the Florida Atlantic Owls men’s basketball, guiding them to a surprising Final Four run in 2023.
That breakthrough put him on the radar as one of the top up-and-coming coaches in college basketball.
May later became the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball, where he continued to build his reputation, including leading the program to a national championship.
Before becoming a head coach, May spent years as an assistant, including time under Bob Knight, which helped shape his coaching philosophy.
