
The Atlanta Hawks defeated the New York Knicks 109-108 and took a 2-1 lead in the first-round playoff series on Thursday night.
CJ McCollum sank a fadeaway jumper with 12.5 seconds left to obtain the win in Game 3, after also hitting in a Game 2 stunner at Madison Square Garden.
Jalen Johnson had 24 points, while McCollum finished with 23 points, and Jonathan Kuminga added 21 off the bench for the Hawks.
Atlanta led nearly the entire game, building an 18-point lead in the first half, but the Knicks rallied for a 108-105 edge.
On the other hand, OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 29 points, Jalen Brunson had 26, and Karl-Anthony Towns added 21, but not enough to survive Atlanta.
The Hawks outscored New York 27-12 over the final seven minutes of the opening quarter, turning the game in their favor with an 11-0 spurt and closing the period with three straight 3-pointers.
Atlanta opened late in the first half, and the Knicks came back as they closed the period on a 12-2 run, cutting the deficit back into single figures with a 58-50 edge.
Meanwhile, Referee Natalie Sago became the third woman to officiate an NBA playoff game, working alongside Marc Davis and Nick Buchert.
Game 4 is Saturday in Atlanta.
