Muhammad Mokaev: I beat UFC champion Joshua Van 10 out of 10 times

Muhammad Mokaev has the utmost confident that he would be champion if he was still a UFC fighter.

Mokaev (15-0) was on the cusp of title contention after a 7-0 octagon run, but he surprisingly wasn’t re-signed after defeating Manel Kape at UFC 304 in July 2024.

The 25-year-old holds wins over four ranked UFC flyweights, and doesn’t see current champion Joshua Van (17-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) beating him. Van is fresh off a title defense finish of Tatsuro Taira at UFC 328.

“I could be champion (in the UFC) today,” Mokaev said in an interview with Alvaro Colmenero. “I love my career, and today, there’s a champion named Joshua Van. So my confidence, and how much I love my career, I’m ready to retire if I don’t beat this guy. That is how confident I am that I could be champion today. Easy fight, easy money. I believe this is right now the perfect fight for me, and I can beat him 10 out of 10 times.”

Mokaev is 3-0 since parting ways with the UFC, including capturing the inaugural Brave CF flyweight title last November. He takes on Jorge Calvo (20-7) in a bantamweight bout Saturday at WOW 31 from Madrid Arena in Spain.
