2028 three-star quarterback Knox Kiffin is the son of LSU Tigers head football coach Lane Kiffin.
Late last year, 2028 three-star quarterback Knox Kiffin, the son of LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin, dropped a quote that most college football fans didn’t put much stock in.

Knox told On3 that he will not play for his dad in college (Lane was still the head coach at Ole Miss when he made the comment).
“I’m definitely not going to play for my dad,” said Knox to On3. “I want to do my own stuff.
“I understand what Shedeur (Sanders) did but I don’t want to be in the position for fans to say, ‘The only reason you’re playing is because of your dad.’ I want to beat my dad,” continued Knox. “I want to play against him, not play with him….He understands. Sometimes he’ll be like, ‘Oh, you should play with me,’ but he understands that I want to start my own thing, my own legacy.”

Knox apparently wasn’t bluffing.
Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman reported on Thursday that Missouri is an early frontrunner for Knox, with Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt also in the mix.
“After a string of visits this offseason across the SEC and more, Missouri is an early frontrunner for the three-star QB,” noted Spiegelman.
Things can always change, but with 2028 quarterbacks starting to make decisions to lock down spots, it seems likely that Knox will commit to a program not named LSU sooner rather than later.

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Knox won’t play for his dad at some point — Lane is the portal king, after all — but for now, the young quarterback appears to be sticking to his plan.
