There’s nothing like a training camp jump scare in which a star player is placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Such was the case for Seattle Seahawks defensive back Nick Emmanwori, who was one of three players put on PUP on Monday. Emmanwori participated throughout minicamp and OTAs, so this undisclosed injury has seemingly come out of nowhere.
NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche was on Seattle Sports 710 radio with Michael Bumpus and Stacy Jo Rost on Tuesday, and for any Seahawks fans freaking out over a possible prolonged absence for the second-year player, perhaps this will calm your collective nerves.

“I have been told by someone there it’s not something that they’re overly concerned with,” Wyche said. “So I don’t think this is something that’s surgical that’s going to require something that’s going to keep him out for a while.”
Unlike regular season PUP, which requires a player miss at least the first four games of the year, training camp PUP is easy to come off of. As long as Emmanwori can pass a physical then he can be activated at any time (and, for that matter, the same applies for Tyrone Broden and Kenny McIntosh).
We’ve been here before with Emmanwori injury scares. While he missed actual regular season time during his rookie season, the Super Bowl practice scare was quickly eased by Mike Macdonald and Emmanwori himself. If by any chance Emmanwori isn’t on the practice field for Saturday’s opening training camp session, Coach Macdonald will presumably provide some sort of update in his media availability.
