After previously indicating that the quarterback competition would last a bit longer for Florida State, the Seminoles instead made a decision and named Auburn transfer Ashton Daniels as the starter for the season, marking the third straight season that FSU will be riding with a transfer player under center:

The Seminoles defeated North Florida 4-1 in Tuesday’s midweek showdown, continuing their win streak.

No. 12 Florida State will face off against the No. 8 Florida Gators at 6:00 p.m. tonight in Tallahassee:
The Gators are 43-6 and are 16-5 in the SEC. Florida is coming off a weekend series against Auburn where it took two out of three. FSU trails the all-time series against Florida 29-24 but has dominated the Gators as of late. The Noles have won seven out of the last eight meetings against Florida. The one loss to the Gators came in extra innings in 2024.
Basketball
Florida State made another pair of transfer portal additions official on Tuesday, announcing the signings of brothers Anthony Robinson II from Missouri and Amare Robinson from Tallahassee State College:
Anthony, a Tallahassee native, played his first three seasons at Missouri and was an All-SEC Defensive Team selection as a sophomore.
“Anthony is exactly what you look for in a point guard – tough, vocal, and someone who naturally commands respect,” Loucks said. “He’s grown a lot over his three years at Missouri, and bringing him back home to Tallahassee means a lot to our program. We expect him to step in right away and lead, not just on the court but in how we work, prepare, and represent Florida State every day. We believe that with Anthony’s defensive intensity and offensive skill, he can be one of the most well-rounded and productive point guards in the ACC.”
Amare played his freshman season at Tallahassee State College after a productive prep career at Florida State University School.
“Amare is a young player with a bright future because of how he approaches the game,” Loucks said. “He’s unselfish, he’s coachable, and he understands what it means to be a great teammate. The Robinson family is special, and we’re excited to have them fully part of our program. Amare is going to develop the right way here and make a real impact over time.”
The Seminoles, however, saw a last-minute entrance into the portal from Thomas Bassong, who previously announced intentions to return to Tallahassee:

FSU women’s basketball announced a transfer portal signing of its own, with Brooke Wyckoff landing Timaya Lewis-Eutsey from Marshall:
Lewis-Eutsey started all 37 games, leading the Thundering Herd to the 2026 WNIT title, where she averaged 20.0 points per game and shooting 50 percent from the floor for the season. She ranked third in the country in steals in 2025-26, amassing 141, averaging 3.8 per game. Lewis-Eutsey and Notre Dame’s Hannah Hildago were the only two players in the nation to average at least 20.0 points per game and 3.8 steals per game last year.
Three Florida State women’s basketball players were named to the 2025-26 All-ACC Academic Team — Avery Treadwell, Amaya Bonner and Sydney Bowles:
Treadwell and Bonner earn their third career nods to the team, while Bowles picked up her second. Treadwell and Bonner are among 10 student-athletes in the ACC to be recognized on the All-ACC Academic Team three times, and two of three on the list majoring in engineering. All three student-athletes have been honored after every season at FSU and the Noles are one of nine schools in the league to have at least three players recognized this season.
Majoring in sport management, Bonner appeared in 30 games, starting 21 as a senior, averaging 5.6 points per game. She set a career high of 22 points in in the win at Pitt and matched her highs for rebounds (6) and steals (3). She also set a career high in field goals made (6) and free throws made (9) this season.
Bonner was also named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District Team this season, along with Treadwell.
A chemical engineering major, Treadwell provided a major spark from the bench in her junior season, playing in all 31 games. She led the team with 67 offensive rebounds and shot 58.8 percent from the floor. Against NC State, Treadwell led the team, securing her first double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Treadwell set career highs in rebounds (12), steals (2), blocks (3), field goals (5), and free throws made (4) this season. Treadwell was also a part of the Dean’s List this fall.
Bowles played in 28 games as a senior, setting a career high in assists with seven against Florida and tied her career high in three-pointers made at six against No.9 Oklahoma and Pitt. In her two seasons with FSU, Bowles averaged 9.6 points per game and is majoring in civil engineering.
All Sports
FSU track and field nabbed a pair of conference honors, with Shenese Walker and Shamar Reid named ACC Performers of the Week:
Walker was announced as Women’s Performer of the Week, while Reid was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Walker competed in the primetime event of the women’s 100-meters, placing second behind a massive personal-best at 10.80 seconds which stands as the second-fastest time in the world and NCAA this season. Walker’s time also set both a new program and ACC record, while also ranking fifth all-time in collegiate history and eighth in Jamaican history.
Reid participated in the men’s discus throw, setting a personal-best of 63.10 meters as the top ACC thrower and second overall in the event. Reid, who holds the No. 2 spot in Florida State history in the event, continues to maintain his top spot in the conference standings and moved up to second in the NCAA this season.
