Notre Dame’s top 2028 QB target could commit earlier than anticipated

The 2028 class quarterback dominoes are falling, and for Notre Dame, it hasn’t been the easiest time.

The Trey Tagliaferri experience wasn’t ideal for the Irish, after committing he quickly changed his mind and made the decision to join Oklahoma’s group. With just four offers out to the class, Notre Dame’s targets have dwindled, as now two of them have committed elsewhere and a third, Kingston Preyear announces today with the Irish most likely not being the choice.

That leaves just Lukas Prock as the lone target with an offer, and as he told 247Sports Brian Dohn (subscription required), he would have liked to commit following his upcoming season, but that might not be a viable option right now. With many of the top 2028 quarterbacks already making their decisions, the 6-foot, 2-inch and 190-pound star thinks he might have to move up his verbal timeline.

Prock said “the last thing I want is all my top three (Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Indiana), top four options being taken and then me sitting there saying ‘All right, what do I do know?’” None of his top teams have a commitment at the moment, and that could surely change over the next few months. As of right now, the Irish haven’t made a move on another quarterback in the class, so this one could end up seeing Prock land with Notre Dame.
