The Oklahoma Sooners didn’t have the best week in recruiting, outside of the Elite Camp they hosted.
The Oklahoma Sooners started June 1, 2026, with 23 commits in their 2027 recruiting class. That changed quickly.

Then, Demare Dezeurn, a four-star wide receiver, parted ways with the team. Parker Thune of SoonerScoop reported that the two sides basically grew apart. Now, on Saturday night, Tra’Von Hall decommitted and flipped to Ole Miss. He was a three-star in a class loaded with blue-chip players, so it won’t hurt their ranking too badly. However, he is a good football player.
The last remaining wide receiver committed to Oklahoma in the 2027 class had some thoughts to share with the fan base about the situation, and they really need it. A large portion of the fan base is kind of freaking out right now.

2027 three-star wide receiver Greydon Howell delivers a message for the fan base
“Sooner Nation, everything’s gonna be just fine, trust me. Recruiting class is still special, so is the coaching staff, and most importantly, the fan base! Love y’all,” Greydon Howell tweeted.
Looking ahead, the Sooners will have to find a receiver to replace Hall and Dezeurn. Although Hall was listed as an athlete, he was probably going to be a receiver. At 6-0 and 180 pounds, he fits the typical SEC wide receiver profile. The Sooners have already sent 35 total offers to receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. As things currently stand, none of those players are expected to commit to Oklahoma, but that situation could always change.

To provide more context, Hall initially chose Oklahoma over other contenders: the Ole Miss Rebels, the Auburn Tigers, and the Vanderbilt Commodores. Now, he’s heading to what was his second option. Perhaps he would have chosen Ole Miss originally if not for the Lane Kiffin situation at the time, which created some uncertainty around Ole Miss’s head-coaching status.
Jonathan Noore, a three-star athlete from St. Louis, Missouri, is the only receiver the Sooners have offered that’s projected to land with OU. Now, it’s early, so don’t freak out. They have till February 5, 2027, to finalize the class. Last season, they didn’t finish their wide receiver room until three months before National Signing Day. So, give it some time, just like Howell said.
