We’re just 81 days until the start of a brand new season of Penn State Football!
September 5 will not just be the kickoff date of the 2026 season (and start of the Matt Campbell). It will also be Ben Whitver’s first time putting on the blue and white and running out of the Beaver Stadium tunnel to the sound of 106,000-plus roaring fans.

Whitver is preparing for his true freshman season, where he will add depth to a wide receiver room that is looking for a complete transformation from the last few years of James Franklin’s tenure. Fortunately, Campbell and staff have a proven track record of developing NFL-level receivers from their time at Iowa State. While Whitver may need to wait to see regular playing time, he could be one of the next stars at the position under Campbell.
The Powhatan, Va., product originally committed to play for James Madison in early November. However, he would switch his commitment to the Nittany Lions later that month after the announcement that Campbell would be the program’s new head coach.
Whitver has intriguing size at 6-2, 190 lbs. as he continues to grow and prepare to face defenders in the Big Ten.
