The first weekend of official visits is in the books for the Oregon Ducks, and they are already starting to see the benefits of their efforts.
Four-star linebacker Toa Satele announced his commitment to the Ducks on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker from Hawaii chose Oregon over Texas, Notre Dame and Cal.

Satele is the No. 4 linebacker in the class and the No. 68 player overall, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. Linebacker is a big emphasis in the 2027 recruiting class for the Ducks. Linebackers coach Brian Michalowski has already wrangled in three-star Sam Ngata, the son of Oregon Ducks Hall of Famer Haloti Ngata, and four-star Brandon Lockley Jr. from Philadelphia. Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti was also a big factor in recruiting Satele.
The top player from Hawaii is an instinctive defender over the middle and tackles well. He has the ability to play off the ball in coverage or develop into an edge player, and his football IQ is often on display as he runs sideline to sideline.
His father, Samson Satele, played guard and center at Hawaii before the Miami Dolphins selected him with a second-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent eight years in the NFL, playing with the Dolphins, Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts.

Satele shuffled his official visit schedule to see the Ducks first. After committing to Oregon, it’s unlikely he makes the trip out to see his other finalists. He is the fourth top 100 recruit in Oregon’s class, joining quarterback Will Mencl, edge rusher Rashad Streets and safety Semaj Stanford.
The Ducks still have the No. 9 class in the country, per Rivals, now boasting 14 commits.
