The FSU Seminoles have landed several defensive targets this week, and now they will look to add an offensive playmaker to their 2027 recruiting class on Wednesday.
Three-star running back Marquis Fennell is ready to make his commitment, and Florida State is a finalist. They are competeting with the Colorado Buffaloes, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Stanford Cardinal for the Valdosta, Georgia native.

While the Yellow Jackets are the only in-state school in his recruitment, they are also the only program that Fennell did not officially visit. FSU seemingly has all the momentum in its recruitment on decision day due to several factors.
Not only is he a nearby target, but he is also a perfect fit for FSU’s offense with head coach Mike Norvell back calling plays. Norvell loves to have a running back who can carry the ball and be used in the passing game, something Fennell excels at.
He was named the 6A Region 1 Player of the Year at Valdosta High School after rushing for 1,480 yards and 23 touchdowns on 181 attempts, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. He also caught 53 passes for 764 yards and 10 more touchdowns. His skill set would pair perfectly with Jayden Miles, FSU’s current running back commit.

Decision Time
Fennell is scheduled to make his commitment on Thursday, June 25, at a commitment ceremony with his teammate Deron Foster. They are set to commit at 7 p.m. ET.

The Seminoles extended Fennell a scholarship offer on Jan. 20, 2026, quickly becoming one of the top schools in his recruitment. He has made the quick trip to Tallahassee four times since then, including for his official visit on June 5, the final one he took before scheduling his commitment.

My Pick: FSU Seminoles
Florida State has been at or near the top of Fennell’s recruitment since the start, with him being an excellent fit for the offense. While he is not technically an in-state target, Valdosta is less than two hours from Tallahassee, and they have taken advantage of the proximity. His versatility makes him an excellent fit for FSU, and they should seal the deal on Thursday.
