The Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive line needed an upgrade. After a season where they struggled in run and pass blocking, John Spytek made a huge splash early in free agency. He made center Tyler Linderbaum the highest-paid player at his position with the expectation that he would become the leader of the offensive line.
With the new look at the center position for the Silver and Black, Linderbaum now has to build chemistry with the quarterback room. Of course, the quarterback of the future is Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza isn’t getting first-team reps during OTA’s, but Linderbaum can tell that he wants to be great.
“Yeah, he’s been great. Soaking in everything he’s being taught, trying to take it and then
apply it into the classroom and onto the field. You can tell he wants to be great, and that’s all you can ask
for for the whole rookie class coming in, is how much information can you take in and process? And then
take it out onto the field”
It will be interesting to see how long Mendoza lasts working with the third string, as they slowly move him up. If he is picking up the offense and performing like we are hearing, it could be sooner than later. That’s when the chemistry was truly built with him and Linderbaum.
