Sam Mayer is entering the NASCAR O’Reilly Series regular-season finale at Daytona International Speedway with Chase bubble pressure. Despite sitting 10th in the standings, Mayer only has a 19-point advantage over Taylor Gray and a 33-point gap over Rajah Caruth for a spot in the Chase.
While William Sawalich and Brent Crews are each 18 points back, the Haas Factory Team driver is not going to sleep well leading up to Daytona. The track has the opportunity for major point swings, as the racing produces unpredictable winners, finishes, and wrecks. Therefore, there is not much comfort.

Mayer will be in trouble if he doesn’t finish the race, so this has to be a very strong effort from the No. 41 team. After all, Mayer missing the Chase would be one of the biggest suprises of the 2026 NASCAR season. Time is ticking for those below the cut-line, and Mayer is hoping to be on the right side of things when it strikes midnight.
