Earlier this week, we found out that Seattle Seahawks defensive weapon Nick Emmanwori was placed on the PUP list. Now we know why and what injury he’s dealing with.
Per ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Emmanwori’s bothersome right ankle has led to recent surgery, but the news is optimistic in terms of when he’ll be able to return.
Emmanwori had ankle issues crop up both at the beginning of last season and just prior to the Super Bowl, although he was ultimately fine for the Super Bowl. As ESPN’s Brady Henderson mentions in the story, Emmanwori was feeling some discomfort as he was ramping up for training camp so the most prudent course of action is to take care of it now. This will allow him to heal and be ready for Week 1, according to this report.

Since Emmanwori missed time last year and still managed to become arguably the most important part of Mike Macdonald’s defense, this surgery should (hopefully) not set him back very much. Still, we’ll need to see who will take his place during training camp.
