College football fans often obsess over many nonsensical things, but chief among them might be noise and stadium atmospheres.
Each and every week throughout the college football season, you can find fans arguing online about stadium capacity, decibel levels, and the impact that it has on the game. It’s gotten to a point where EA Sports, smartly so, has leaned into it and made it a major part of their new College Football 27 video games.

As was the case over the last two versions of the game as well, CFB27 has released its rankings of the loudest stadiums in the game, showing who they think is king when it comes to crowd noise and stadium impact. If you look at the list objectively, it’s impossible to argue that nobody can hold a candle to the SEC.
Here’s a look at the full rankings:
Of course, this may not be a perfect picture of who has the loudest stadium in all of college football, or which school can boast that it possesses the “toughest place to play” in. But this does offer a good snapshot of CFB environments, and it feels relatively accurate, for the most part.

Of the top 10 toughest environments, the SEC is home to six of them, led by the LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and Alabama Crimson Tide. This dwarfs the Big Ten’s three schools in the top 10. The SEC also has nine of the top-15 schools, and 10 of the top 20. Meanwhile, the Big Ten has five of the top-15 schools, and seven of the top-20, while both the ACC and Big 12 have just one of the top-20 each.
Fans will undoubtedly argue about their team’s ranking on this list and claim they aren’t getting the respect they deserve, but it’s not hard to believe that some of the toughest places to play are down south, where it just means more.
