Sooryavanshi back at the top of IPL 2026 Orange Cap table

by

Whenever Punjab Kings (PBKS) or Rajasthan Royals (RR) play a game at IPL 2026, there are major changes on the Orange Cap table. It was no different on Tuesday night, when they played each other in New Chandigarh.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – who else? – is back at the top of the list for highest run-getters this season after hitting a 16-ball 43, laden with five sixes, which has also made him the first batter this season to touch the 400-run mark.

Sooryavanshi had a bit of a dip after starting the season with a sequence of 52, 31, 39 and 78, but has bounced right back, scoring 46 and 103 in two of his last three innings before the latest one, and that’s put him right on top of the Orange Cap table.

Behind him in the top five are Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with 380 runs, KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC) with 358 runs, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with 351 runs, and SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen with 349 runs. And after scoring 59 in 44 balls – slower than his standards this season – PBKS’ Prabhsimran Singh is at No. 6 with 346 runs.

Shreyas Iyer, Prabhsimran’s captain, is at No. 10 after Tuesday, having scored 30 in 27 balls to take his aggregate for the season up to 309.

Jofra Archer picked up the first wicket to fall in New Chandigarh, that of Priyansh Arya, which has taken his tally up to 14, putting him joint at the top of the table with RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and SRH’s Eshan Malinga.

Archer has an economy rate of 8.27, with Bhuvneshwar at 7.61, Kamboj at 8.56, and Malinga at 9.44.

Behind them, with 13 wickets to their names, are Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans (GT).
