Sophie Cunningham followed in the footsteps of Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull in WNBA free agency. All three stars signed new deals with the Indiana Fever ahead of the 2026 season.
Cunningham, in particular, will be back for at least another season after she signed a new one-year contract with the Fever. The 6-foot-1 guard was a key piece for head coach Stephanie White in 2025, and she is expected to pick up right where she left off following her season-ending knee injury.

Rehab has been a significant part of Cunningham’s offseason. She tore the MCL in her right knee in August, which required surgery. She is now working hard to get ready for the start of the new season.
Apart from getting herself back in game shape, Cunningham also has a lot of other commitments away from the Fever. She has emerged as one of the top stars in the WNBA, resulting in multiple endorsement deals and public appearances.
On Thursday, the 29-year-old took to social media to share an announcement about her next event. Cunningham will make a guest appearance on a Goldin on eBay box break event featuring country singer Luke Combs.

TV personality and sports cards guru Ken Goldin, the owner of Goldin Auctions, will join Combs as they open an ’86 Fleer Basketball Box in search of Michael Jordan rookie cards.
As the post indicates, the event will take place on Friday at 6:00 p.m. ET in South Bend, Indiana. Cunningham is one of the special guests, alongside football Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis and NFL quarterback Sam Hartman.
Cunningham shared the announcement post via her Instagram stories.

After Friday’s event, Cunningham will be reuniting with her Fever teammates ahead of the new season. Training camp officially starts on Sunday as Indiana prepares for their season opener on May 9 against the Dallas Wings.
