Steelers sign former Dallas Cowboys safety

by

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Dallas Cowboys safety Israel Mukuamu. The South Carolina product was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Mukuamu played for Mike McCarthy in Dallas from 2021-23, playing in 33 games. He appeared in one game in 2025 with the Carolina Panthers.

The Steelers released veteran safety Darnell Savage late last week and signed former Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Pittsburgh is very thin at safety, which is the reason for the veteran signings. Jalen Ramsey is on the PUP list, leaving Pittsburgh with starters Jaquan Brisker and DeShon Elliott, who has been limited throughout portions of training camp. Other safeties include seventh-round rookie Robert Spears-Jennings, Jack Henderson, and Sebastian Castro.

The Steelers will be back on the practice field on Thursday after having Wednesday off.
