Texas 6A State Runner-Up Sloane Rocha Sends 2027 Verbal to Illinois
NEW COMMIT: The University of Illinois has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Sloane Rocha of Spring, Texas. Rocha is a talented breaststroker who is a Junior National qualifier.
She will join Serena Dickey as a member of the Fighting Illini’s Class of 2031.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am SO excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois! Huge shout out to my family, friends, and teammates for their endless support and to Coach Laura and Coach Ross who’ve helped me so much at SSAN. I’d also like to thank Coach Jeana and the rest of the coaching staff at the University of Illinois for this amazing opportunity! I am so excited and can’t wait!!”
Rocha does her club swimming with Swim Streamline at Northampton. She most recently placed second in the 200m breast and fourth in the 100m breast at Austin Futures. She placed fourth in the 100 breast, fifth in the 200 breast and eighth in the 50 breast at Justin Speedo Sectionals in March.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 29.51
- 100 breast – 1:01.84
- 200 breast – 2:16.33
- 200 IM – 2:08.81
Currently a junior at Grand Oaks High School, Rocha was the 100 breast runner-up at the 2026 Texas UIL 6A State Championships. That was a massive improvement from her 16th-place finish in that event at the state meet as a sophomore in 2025.
Rocha’s current best time in the 100 breast is already fast enough to place in the C-final at the Big Ten Championships.
