Three things I like about Notre Dame DB Christian Gray

by

We live in a college football world of lists, rankings, and countdowns. Many players on Notre Dame’s roster have been talked about and written about over the last few months — so let’s fall in line.

This will be my official Top 20 Notre Dame Football Players ranking. I will unveil each player, and list the three things I like about them. It seems simple enough, but I have no doubt that some of these ratings will be highly criticized, but you can always share your thoughts in the comments below.

#29 Christian Gray DB

Left for dead

Defensive backs are often some of the easiest scape goats for casual fans. Never mind the defensive scheme, play call, or lack of help — if “his guy” catches the ball, it’s entirely HIS fault. That’s not to say that mistakes aren’t made. After the quarterback position, cornerback is the toughest position to play in football — which means the margins for error are extremely thin, and no one is perfect. Christian Gray, in my opinion, is a player that many Notre Dame fans want to discard because of a few plays here and there. And this… this is nothing but fuel for a player that is better than the credit he receives.

A rubber ball

The reason there is this discourse around Christian Gray is because there are mistakes and there are plays that are made against him, and yet… all he does is bounce back and make plays himself. All he does is continue to go out there and fight and win for the ball. Cornerbacks need a short memory, and Gray comes off as some type of goldfish (is that Ted Lasso story even true?). There’s probably no greater examples of this than his last two games against USC.
