MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Joshua Van and Tatsuro Taira were on the mark at Friday’s UFC 328 official weigh-ins, and now their flyweight title fight is official.
After Van (15-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) won the belt in unceremonious fashion vs. Alexandre Pantoja in December, he will attempt to make his first defense against Taira (18-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who can become the first Japanese-born champion in company history when they clash in Saturday’s co-main event at Prudential Center (Paramount+).

Reigning titleholder Van was 125 pounds on the scale, while first-time challenger Taira registered at 125 pounds, as well. Taira was the second fighter to come to the scale, and Van was right after him to make their fight official in a hurry and without drama.
