Yadong Song gave China their only win of the night.
Song (23-9-1 MMA, 12-4-1 UFC) made former two-time UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (25-7-1 MMA, 14-7-1 UFC) pay with his takedown attempts by submitting him with a guillotine choke at the 4:42 mark of Round 2. The bantamweight bout was the UFC Fight Night 277 main event at at Galaxy Macau in China.

Song started off Round 1 with numerous leg kicks as he looked to press Figueiredo. Figueiredo eventually fired back with a kick, which prompted a combination from Song. The opening two minutes were mainly a feeling out process. Figueiredo cracked Song with a big right. Song stuffed a Figueiredo takedown attempt. Figueiredo landed a body kick, but his takedown attempt was stuffed by Song once again. Song slipped on a kick attempt which gave Figueiredo top position with less than 20 seconds remaining in the round.
Round 2 was also a tentative start from both fighters. Song landed a right hand, followed by a left jab. Song surprised Figueiredo with a takedown, and landed three big right hands as Figueiredo worked his way back up. Song clipped Figueiredo with another clean right. A left low kick by Song got Figueiredo’s attention. Song defended another Figueiredo takedown and landed a kick on the break. Song landed a leg kick, but Figueiredo took him down and was immediately caught in a guillotine choke. He tapped out just seconds later.
In his post-fight octagon interview with Michael Bisping, Song didn’t call anyone out, but said he’s willing to fight anyone. The 28-year-old Team Alpha Male fighter rebounded from his close decision loss to former champion Sean O’Malley at UFC 324.
