Vladimir Guerrero Jr. injury update: Slugger exits game with hamstring tightness

by

WASHINGTON – Vladimir Guerrero Jr.‘s disappointing season has now hit a health hurdle.

Guerrero was removed from the Toronto Blue Jays‘ Tuesday, July 28 game after three innings due to right hamstring tightness. He was replaced by Kazuma Okamoto, who hit his 24th home run in his first at-bat.

Guerrero has not fared as well; he has just six home runs − none of them at home − and is batting .264 with a .700 OPS in the first year of his 14-year, $500 million contract.

Guerrero appeared to suffer the injury when he hit an infield single in the top of the third and then advanced to second on a throwing error by Washington third baseman Jorbit Vivas.
