The Wings were coming off back-to-back losses to the Las Vegas Aces and the Minnesota Lynx. They improved to 12-8, while the Sun dropped to 4-16, the worst record in the league.

Paige Bueckers led the charge with a game-high 25 points on top of seven rebounds and seven assists.

Bueckers and Azzi Fudd were in a familiar place, as they starred for Connecticut in college, each winning a national title. With the Sun moving to Houston next season, the Wings may have played their last game in Connecticut. Bueckers and Fudd expressed their gratitude to their “second home.”

“Just how grateful I am for them, the support throughout the entire five years, but I know it’s gonna be continued for the rest of my life. Like I talked about before, it’s just like a family. Just this entire state supporting us, backing us, loving women’s basketball, loving everything about it,” said Bueckers in the postgame conference.

Fudd, who had four points, four rebounds, and five assists, echoed Bueckers’ message.

“The five years that we both had here, they (fans) showed up every single night. It was such an incredible experience that I wouldn’t change. They’re part of the reason that it’s the basketball capital of the world,” added the rookie.
