Wisconsin women’s basketball adds SoCon Player of the Year

Wisconsin women’s basketball landed a commitment from Chattanooga transfer guard Caia Elisaldez on Thursday.

Elisaldez joined Chattanooga as a freshman in 2023-24 and averaged 18.2 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game across 33 appearances. The Whittier, California, native saw her role increase significantly as a sophomore in 2024-25. She started 30 of 31 games and averaged 36.7 minutes, 14.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.1 steals per contest.

Continuing that trend, Elisaldez then delivered a career year in 2025-26, averaging 36.2 minutes, 17 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game and earning the Southern Conference Player of the Year award.

Elisaldez joins the Badgers with a final year of eligibility remaining. Her addition continues a busy offseason for head coach Robin Pingeton, entering her second season at the helm. The veteran coach is looking to improve upon the program’s 16-18 finish to the 2025-26 season, which included a run to the WBIT semifinals.
