As if the loss wasn’t enough, Cardoso is also set to receive punishment from the WNBA after she received a technical foul during the game.
Early in the second quarter, Cardoso got into a heated exchange with Lynx center Emese Hof. Cardoso initially taunted Hof amid the highly physical game by appearing to throw the ball at her. Moments later, the two exchanged words and had to be separated.

The referees called a double technical foul on the two.
Now, according to WNBA rules, players who receive technical fouls during games are subjected to fines. The first three technical fouls carry a $500 fine each, while the fourth to seventh will cost a $1,000 fine each. Beyond that, a player will have to pay $1,500 for every technical foul she incurs.
The technical foul on Friday was Cardoso’s first of the season, so she is set to pay a $500 fine.

Considering that it’s just the sixth game of the season, Cardoso will certainly need to be more careful if she wants to avoid racking up fines.
